HeritageVillage paints are carefully made in small batches with
naturally-occurring,ground-in pigments in the same way the
18th and 19thcentury paints were created by early
American craftsmen. We use no dyes at any time during the manufacturing
process; rather, we select the finest earth pigments, which are very
stable and immune to heat and moisture.
The colors of the Heritage Village line are
taken from surviving examples of the Colonial and Victorian periods
such as those seen on pieces in the Colonial Williamsburg and
Sturbridge Village Massachusetts collections. Importantly, our color
samples were taken from protected areas such as behind removed hardware
or on thicker paint drips under chest lids, or sides of the drawers.
Our colors therefore are not the pale shades derived from centuries of
wear, sunlight and grime, but the authentic vibrant colors that were
used by decorators of the 18th and 19thcenturies.
The full line of Heritage Village Colors
paints includes our original oil based formulas, our acrylic latex
paints, simulated milk paints, and woodtone stains in paste. For added
protection, all of our paints contain
mildewcide.
